1. Who We Are

Job Search Bud is operated by Talent Works HQ Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number: 17255930), with its registered address at available on request via email.

For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, we are the data controller. If you have any questions about how we handle your personal data, you can contact us at hello.jobsearchbud@gmail.com.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect and process the following categories of personal data:

2.1 Account Information

• Email address — provided when you create an account. Used to identify your account, link your purchased credits, and contact you about your purchases.

2.2 CV and Job Application Content

• CV text — the content of the CV you upload or paste.
• Job descriptions — the job specification text you provide.
• Company briefs — any optional company information you provide.

This content is processed in real time to generate your tailored CV and interview preparation documents. We do not store your CV text, job descriptions, or company briefs after your documents have been generated. This content is transmitted to our AI processing provider (see Section 5) solely for the purpose of generating your documents, and is not retained by us or our provider after processing.

2.3 Payment Information

• Transaction records — we store a record of your purchase (tier purchased, amount, date, and Stripe transaction reference).
• Card details — we do not collect, store, or have access to your card number, expiry date, or CVC. All payment processing is handled directly by Stripe (see Section 5).

2.4 Job Market Data

When you submit a job description, we extract and retain structured job market data fields including: job title, company name, location, salary range, seniority level, sector, and role type. We do not store the full job description text — only these structured fields.

This data is used in anonymised, aggregate form for job market analysis and salary benchmarking research. It is never linked back to your personal identity in any published analysis.

2.5 Usage Data

• Credit usage — we track how many credits you have purchased and used.
• Generation records — we record that a generation occurred (date/time and token counts) for service monitoring. We do not store the content of what was generated.

3. How We Use Your Data

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

• To provide the service — processing your CV and job description to generate tailored documents (legal basis: performance of a contract).
• To manage your account — linking your email to your credits and purchase history (legal basis: performance of a contract).
• To process payments — facilitating payment through Stripe (legal basis: performance of a contract).
• To monitor and improve the service — tracking usage patterns and token consumption to ensure service quality (legal basis: legitimate interest).
• To produce anonymised job market insights — using structured job data (titles, salary ranges, sectors) in aggregate for salary benchmarking and market analysis. This data is never published in a way that identifies you personally (legal basis: legitimate interest).
• To comply with legal obligations — maintaining financial records as required by law (legal basis: legal obligation).

We will not use your data for marketing purposes unless you have given us explicit consent to do so. We will never sell your personal data to third parties.

4. How Long We Keep Your Data

• Account data (email, credits, purchase history) — retained for as long as your account is active, plus 6 years after your last purchase to comply with HMRC record-keeping requirements.
• CV and job description content — not retained. Processed in real time and discarded immediately after your documents are generated.
• Job market data (extracted job title, salary, location, sector) — retained indefinitely in anonymised form for market analysis. You can request deletion of your associated records by contacting us.
• Generated documents — not stored on our servers. Documents are delivered directly to your browser for download. We do not keep copies.

5. Third-Party Processors

We use the following third-party services to operate Job Search Bud:

5.1 Anthropic (AI Processing)

Your CV text and job description are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate your tailored CV and interview preparation documents. Anthropic processes this data solely to fulfil your request and does not use it to train their AI models. Anthropic's privacy policy is available at anthropic.com/privacy.

5.2 Stripe (Payment Processing)

All payments are processed by Stripe. When you make a purchase, you are redirected to Stripe's secure checkout page where your card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/gb/privacy.

5.3 Hosting Provider

Our service is hosted by Railway (railway.com). Your data is stored on servers located within the United States.

6. International Data Transfers

Some of our third-party processors (including Anthropic and Stripe) are based in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or the recipient's participation in recognised data protection frameworks, as required by UK GDPR.

7. Your Rights

Under the UK GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

• Right of access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct any inaccurate data.
• Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your account and associated data, subject to our legal record-keeping obligations.
• Right to restrict processing — you can ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
• Right to data portability — you can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Right to object — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests.

8. Cookies

Job Search Bud uses minimal cookies, limited to those strictly necessary for the service to function:

• Authentication token — stored in your browser's local storage to keep you signed in between visits. This is not a tracking cookie and contains no personal information beyond a randomly generated identifier.

We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or similar tracking tools.

9. Children

Job Search Bud is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption of data in transit (HTTPS), secure storage of account data, and ensuring that CV content is not retained after processing. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on our website. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
